BillsFinePens History

Updated: May 12, 2021

BillsFinePens began in March 2019 in my office-at-home in Dallas, Texas. I have always been fascinated with pens, starting out with ball point pens and quickly moving to fountain pens. One of my first acquisitions is this Waterman Marine Amber Carene 18k gold nib fountain pen. One of the smoothest writing pens I have ever owned.

My initial purchases were odd lot pen such as Onward, Wearever, Penco, Supreme and others that I had never heard of. My idea was to buy the most pens at the lowest cost, clean and polish them and try to resell. It actually worked so well that I ventured into some better known brands such as Sheaffer, Parker and Esterbrook.

I found Esterbrook pens to be great starter pens, simplicity with a slight flare. The more Esterbrooks I purchased the more I liked them and eventually started trying my hand at "restoration." Now restoration, consisted of disassembling the pen by removing the section and the nib, removing the old SAC, cleaning and re-assembling. I used the Esterbrook pens to try my hand at heating the pen slightly to remove the section and eventually replacing missing or corroded levers. My admiration for Esterbrook pens grew into a personal collection of 77 fountain pens and 43 nibs.

Stay tuned, more to come.
